The second tugboat “El-JEM” docked this morning, November 3, 2025, at the commercial port of Zarzis, in order to strengthen the fleet of floating units of the Merchant Marine and Ports Authority OMMP,as part of the ongoing program to receive six maritime tugboats equipped with advanced technologies.
It is planned to receive the other tugboats in stages until the end of January 2026. This significant investment aims to renew the fleet of maritime tugs and secure the entry and exit operations of ships, while ensuring the safety and security of port facilities, and being ready to intervene quickly in case of need for assistance, towing, search, and rescue.
This is part of the logistical development of international commercial ships, the control of operating costs, and the energy and ecological transition, in addition to contributing to the national system for the protection of Tunisian coasts.
