The Office of the Merchant Marine and Ports celebrates World Maritime Day and honors a number of seafarer

Under the slogan “My Ship,My safe space: Ending Harassment at sea ” chosen by the International Maritime Organization for the year 2025, on the occasion of the World Maritime Day, the Office of Merchant Marine and Ports celebrated this international event on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with the aim of further strengthening safe work principles for both genders in the maritime sector.
In this context, the General Directorate of the Office of Merchant Marine and Ports extended its congratulations to all seafarers and all actors in the maritime and port sector, praising their fruitful efforts and encouraging them to put in even more effort and dedication to further elevate this vital and sensitive sector.
On the other hand, the General Directorate of the Office of Merchant Marine and Ports emphasized the need to work harder to protect sailors and create a safe working environment in the maritime sector, ensuring their physical, mental, and professional safety.
The celebration of this event included all commercial ports (La Goulette, Rades, Bizerte, Sousse, Sfax, Gabes, and Zarzis), which organized a ceremonies honoring a number of seafarers of active and retired seafarers. It was also an opportunity for the children of seafarers and port authority employees to discover the ports and take recreational maritime tours in the port basin aboard tugboats .
